Introduction

This page gives general information on various matters and locations relating to private sheltered housing or housing suitable for the elderly.

Details of grants for the maintenance or improvement of property occupied by the elderly or disabled, or grants for the building of extensions to properties for the occupation of elderly or disabled persons, may be obtained from local Councils or from the Care & Repair Service of the Bailey Housing Association. The Disabled Persons Accommodation Agency (DPAA)

The Elderly Accommodation Counsel, (EAC)

3rd Floor, 89 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7TP.  020 7820 1343, can also provide detailed information and advice together with lists of housing available for rent or purchase throughout the Country.

Shelter, Kent Housing Aid:

Sheltered Housing Services Limited:

Freepost Lon 3108, London, W5 1BR will provide information to you for one year from their National Register of lists of Retirement Housing & Homes, including Sheltered Housing for a fee.

Is available for Private Purchase at the following local locations. Inclusion does not constitute a recommendation from Age Concern and as the facilities available at each location can vary and change in time, your own enquiries and inspections are advised.  This list is not intended to be comprehensive. Waiting lists may be in operation at some locations.

Inglewood, The Spinney, Northview, Swanley.

Self-contained Studio or One-Bed Flats in medium size block of 42 units, located one mile from the Swanley Town Centre, 200 yards from Sports / Swimming Centre, 100 yards from Swanley Park, involving some inclines. Nearest Shop & Post Office one mile. Communal Lounge, Guest Suite, Door entry system with individual bell for each flat, Resident Warden - lives on site - on duty Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.20 with on call system all other times. South Downs, South Darenth, Near Dartford

A quiet rural private 17-acre estate of 153 self-contained flats and bungalows, area involves inclines. Dartford 4 miles, Swanley 4 miles, on the edge of South Darenth Village with limited shops and post office. Properties decorated & carpeted, sold on 94-year lease to over 55 years of age, medical assessment & certain restrictions apply to the initial and any subsequent sale. Age Concern

We can offer general advice in regard to facilities available in the local area. We may also be able to assist with the supply and delivery of furniture and household effects from our Charity Shop. We can refer you to reliable and trustworthy low cost charitable organisations or tradesmen for House or Garden maintenance and most other work.
