Some Mechanical, Pneumatic, Electrical or Gas Equipment listed may require essential or statutory safety checks before each loan which will require additional time before equipment is released and incur additional charges. Please inquire when enquiring/booking equipment.
All general Equipment is regularly examined, serviced and maintained, and individually checked immediately prior to any loan but Hirers must ensure for or on behalf of themselves exclusively, as a strict Condition of the Loan, that ALL & ANY equipment taken or offered on loan to them is suitable in all and every respect for the purpose they intend to use or do use the loaned equipment and that the equipment is satisfactory & acceptable in every respect in regards to maintenance, operation and safety. RACDV will not accept any liability under any circumstances for any incorrect operation, failure or other malfunction of any loaned equipment or for any injury, loss or damage howsoever caused, whether actual or consequential. Any equipment on loan that fails to operate in a correct or proper manner or is suspect in any manner whatsoever must with immediate effect ceased to be used further and contact made with the Age Concern office for further advice or to arrange the return or replacement of the suspect equipment.
This unique Disabled Aids Loan Service operated exclusively by Rural Age Concern Darent Valley offers Medical and Disabled Aids Equipment as listed below available for short-term loans up to three months, or longer in exceptional and approved circumstances. Equipment required for a longer duration may be available from Social Services for a small fee or the National Health Service, who subject to assessment and availability can provide Aids free of charge but where an initial delay or waiting list may be evident. Loans of small general equipment within the Age Concern Service are free of charge to the elderly or disabled over 50 years of age on a personal domestic basis whom are resident in the RACDV area, subject to a small contribution requested to cover wear & tear and renewals. Residents outside our area are able to use this service for a modest charge. Please inquire for commercial/professional rates. Extensions of the hire period for most Aids is normally possible but must be pre-arranged and pre-paid. A deposit will be required for any equipment being handled by Air or Public Transport bodies.

Where exceptionally clear evidence of need and inability to pay exists, loans would be considered on a reduced or free of charge basis.
Written approval from your Doctor/Medical Practitioner may be required for some equipment, like wheeled walking frames. The person collecting the equipmentis deemed the Hirer and required to produce proof of identity and address and to accept full responsibility for equipment loaned by signing the agreement on page 5. You are welcome to visit to inspect or select any Aids Equipment. Delivery/collection of equipment can be arranged for a small charge, dependant on time and mileage. All loans are subject to availability and RACDV assessment.
We additionally maintain a range of up to date information on a wide variety of disabled aids equipment available
for private purchase at competitive prices, free of VAT for the disabled. We offer help and advice on the full range
of benefits for the disabled and on the practical and financial aspects of adapting your home to accommodate the needs
of disabled or frail person, together with information and advice on the possible reduction of

- Shower / Commode Wheelchair, padded washable horseshoe seat, leg-rests, sides
and back removable, lightweight.
- Sports Wheelchair, self-propelling, rigid non-folding frame, handles/back
removes, fixed footrests, three position rear wheel axis.
- Battery Wheelchair, batteries charge on mains, simple controllability, seat raises electrically, small size
suitable for house.
- Seat and / or backrest Cushions, 2 / 3” thick foam covered with
washable black vinyl or warm wool, to fit wheelchair.
