Disabled Aids Loans

This unique Disabled Aids Loan Service, operated exclusively
by
Rural Age Concern Darent Valley,
stocks a large and diverse range of equipment to assist those with a
disability or immobility for
short-term loans up to three months – longer in approved circumstances.
Equipment required permanently
or for longer periods may be available from Social Services or the
National Health Service, subject to
assessment and availability, but delays may be experienced. A minimum
contribution as indicated below applies to all loans but such
contribution can be waived in exceptional circumstances. Larger
donations
are very welcome to sustain and improve this service. All loans require
two formal proof of name and
address of person collecting equipment and prepayment in full of
expected hire period. Extensions of
the original hire period is normally possible but must be agreed with
RACDV and any additional hire
contribution pre-paid. In addition, a deposit will be required for any
equipment being taken out of the
UK or handled by Air or Public Transport bodies. All hirers will be
required to agree and sign a contract
or undertaking accepting full and unconditional personal liability and
responsibility for the appropriate
use, safety, storage and security of any hired equipment and be
responsible to RACDV for any loss, damage
or soiling of equipment on return as assessed exclusively by RACDV. You
are welcome to visit to inspect or select any Aids Equipment.
Delivery/collection of equipment can be arranged for a small charge,
dependant on time and mileage. All loans are subject to availability
and to RACDV’s assessment/agreement
and Medical Practitioner approval may be required in some cases. RACDV
often have surplus equipment
available for sale so if you are thinking of longer term hire, please
do enquire as a purchase can work
out cheaper than hiring. Contribution rates are:

Some Mechanical, Pneumatic, Electrical or Gas Equipment listed may
require essential or statutory safety checks before loan out which will
require additional time before equipment is released. All general Equipment is
examined, serviced and maintained, and individually checked immediately
prior to any loan out but Hirers are required for or on behalf of themselves
or the person using the equipment and as a strict Condition of the Loan, that
ALL & ANY equipment loaned to them is suitable in all and every
respect for the purpose they intend to use or do use the loaned equipment and that the
equipment is satisfactory & acceptable in every respect in
regards to maintenance, operation and safety. RACDV will not accept any liability
under any circumstances for any incorrect operation, failure or other
malfunction of any loaned equipment or for any injury, loss or damage howsoever
caused, whether actual or consequential. Any equipment on loan that fails to
operate in a correct or proper manner or is suspect in any manner whatsoever must
with immediate effect ceased to be used further and contact made with the
Age Concern office for further advice and for RACDV to arrange the urgent
return or replacement of the suspect equipment.
